As described in Fig. 1, growth arrested cells were exposed to PDGF ({blacktriangleup}) or bFGF ({blacktriangledown}) in the presence of 0, 62.5, 250 and 1000 µM p-aminobenzamidine for 48 hours and incubated with BrdU for the second 24 hour period. BrdU-labeling indices are presented as medians (IQR) of four independent experiments performed in triplicate. Statistical analysis was performed by the Kruskal-Wallis test (P<0.0001). The multiple comparisons' criterion was employed to identify differences between groups (P<0.001 for 250 and 1000 µM versus 0 µM in PDGF- and bFGF-stimulated cells).
