Note that this detachment was a very rare event. The sampling rate for this experiment was one scan every 2 minutes, and was 1-2 scans/minute for others. To address the possibility that some clusters are rapidly lost, followed by rapid reassembly of novel clusters at the same positions, some experiments were performed with sampling rates of up to 73 scans/minute, and the clusters appeared stable over 61 frames.
