Distended nucleolar substructure is evident from the phase-contrast images (A,D), with globular dense fibrillar component organized around individual DAPI-staining fibrillar centres (B,E). The GFP signal remained located at the dense fibrillar component (C,F) and was absent from chromosomes (D-F) and other nuclear structures (not shown).
