(A) A431, A431D and MCF-10A cells were subjected to a hanging-drop aggregation assay, as described in the Materials and Methods. A431D cells, which lack E-cadherin expression, exhibited a defect in cell-cell adhesion. Ephrin-A1 stimulation also induced dissociation of MCF-10A cells. (B) MCF-10A-EPHA2, but not MCF-10A-{Delta}C cells, exhibited decreased cell-cell adhesion. (C) Western blot analysis of EPHA2 and Myc-tagged mutant {Delta}C protein in MCF-10A cells.
