Each curve was normalized and then fitted to an exponential function (red line) as described in Materials and Methods. Analysis allowed us to obtain two values: the degree of recovery (%) and the rate of recovery ({tau}). As shown here, recovery was large (>60%) and rapid ({tau}{approx}100 seconds) in the control experiment. By contrast, octanol reduced almost totally the fluorescence recovery after photobleach.
