In the absence of A-type lamins, emerin in Lmna(–/–) fibroblasts is distributed largely throughout the peripheral ER, with little concentration in the nuclear envelope. Only wild-type lamin A (LaA WT; A,B) and LaA R482W (G,H) are capable of restoring the nuclear envelope localization of emerin in these cells.
