Why is it that astronomy is often deemed newsworthy but biology is not? And shouldn't the average Joe or Jane be as interested in the cell cycle as they are in the space shuttle? Caveman thinks the media is to blame (see p. 3223). He claims that the portrayal of scientists as the creators of humanoid monsters gives a jaundiced view of biology and is unlikely to stimulate genuine interest in the subject.
