In a previous column, Caveman urged scientists to engage in more dialogue with non-scientists. On p. 1777, he expands on why this is so important, urging us to become involved in public advocacy of science. He argues that not only do the public have a right to know how their taxes/donations are spent but we have much to gain from informing them of our goals and agendas.
