Files in this Data Supplement:
Movie 1. Same cell as shown in Fig. 2. Individual microtubules are seen in interphase cytoplasmic arrays. A time-lapse movie was made from single optical sections taken at 2.2-second intervals, with a 0.3-second exposure. Movie plays at 10 frames/second.
Movie 2. Same cell as shown in Fig. 4A. Mitotic spindle formation from G2/M through prometaphase, expressing GFP:a-tubulin (YY105). INA microtubules appear at the onset of mitosis, preceding any visible spindle elongation. The time-lapse movie is a projection of three optical sections taken at 7-second intervals with a 0.3-second exposure. Movie plays at 5 frames/second.
Movie 3. Same cell as shown in Fig. 4B. Prometaphase S. pombe cell expressing GFP:a-tubulin (YY105). The time-lapse movie was made from single optical section images taken at approximately 2-second intervals with a 0.3-second exposure. INA microtubules can be seen originating from both ends of the spindle extending into the nucleus. Sweeping movement of INA microtubules is also apparent. Movie plays at 10 frames/second.
Movie 4. Same cell as shown in Fig. 6. Spindle collapse occurs by sequential depolymerization of individual microtubules. Strain YY105. The time-lapse movie was made from single optical section images taken at approximately 2-second intervals. Movie plays at 10 frames/second.
