The trypanosome flagellum is an extremely complex structure that must be faithfully duplicated during each cell cycle and positioned such that each daughter cell inherits one of its progeny. In Cell Science at a Glance, Sue Vaughan and Keith Gull summarize our knowledge of the structure of the trypanosome flagellum and the replication mechanism. In collaboration with computer graphics experts, they have developed dynamic spatial models of the organelle, which are the basis for the accompanying poster and movie (see p. 757).
