Numerous DNA-positive structures colocalize within elongated mitochondrial filaments. (B-E) Inhibition of mitochondrial fusion with cccp leads to mitochondrial fragmentation in HeLa cells (B,C) and fibroblasts (D,E). The majority of punctate mitochondria are DNA-positive.
