  Fig. S1. Ligand dose-response in the chemotactic assay with BAE cells. BAE cells were induced to transmigrate through 8 mm polycarbonate filters by the addition of various amounts of either VEGF₁₆₅ (d) or VEGF-C_DNDC (s) to the bottom well. Transmigrating cells were stained with Hoechst stain, imaged under epifluorescence using a 20« lens and counted using automatic image analysis (see Materials and Methods). There is no statistically significant increase in the response to VEGF-C_DNDC above 1 ng/ml. The response to VEGF peaks at 1 ng/ml and declines with higher doses of the ligand.
