Total RNA from mating type I cells was loaded in lanes 1-4 (2, 5, 11, 11 µg, respectively) and lane 5 (6 µg), and separated on a 1% denaturing agarose gel, transferred to a nylon membrane and then hybridized with probe 1 (lanes 1-4) or probe 2 (lane 5). A single band of about 1000 bases can be detected in each lane (arrowhead). The size of RNA markers (Novagen) is indicated on the left-hand side.
