Movie 1. Ca2+ dynamics in a Paramecium cell. After microinjection of Fluo-4 dextran and a recovery time of 15 minutes, Ca2+ signals were recorded. A large Ca2+ signal is travelling throughout the whole cell. Superimposed to this global Ca2+ wave, spontaneous Ca2+ signals occur in close proximity to the ORS at both contractile vacuoles.
