Each cell was outlined using the GFP channel as a guide, the transferrin-Alexa-Fluor-546 image was then thresholded and the number of puncta within the ROI was counted. Results are mean ± s.e.m. of 18-38 cells per construct, normalised to control; **P<0.01 compared with transferrin uptake in GFP cells.
