The dibY chimera contains a mutation in the extracellular domain of Torso that causes less ligand-independent signalling than the mutation used in the original dib chimera, presumably due to less dimerization. The dibY chimera recruits less talinH-GFP (B) to the cell cortex compared to the original dib chimera (A). (C) Quantification of the relative levels of cortical recruitment, expressed as the ratio of cortical to cytoplasmic staining, of talin head in wildtype embryonic muscles, and muscles expressing dib and dibY.
