Movie 1. Normal mitosis. Spindle in rsw7 after 7 hours at the restrictive temperature, undergoing mitosis similar to that of the wild type. The movie shows metaphase, anaphase and telophase, and spans 11 minutes in total.
Movie 2. Collapse of a bipolar spindle. Spindle in rsw7 after 7 hours at the restrictive temperature, undergoing collapse at anaphase after starting out bipolar. The bipolar spindle appears looser and less focussed than a wild-type spindle through prometaphase before the poles collapse together, forming a radial spindle. After spindle collapse, the DNA appears as a dark mass in the centre of the cell and microtubules, seemingly originating from the collapsed spindle, move towards the cell periphery in an apparent attempt to form a phragmoplast. The movie spans 17 minutes in total.
Movie 3. Extremely abnormal spindle. Spindle in rsw7 after 28 hours at the restrictive temperature. The spindle is very broad and unstable, and dispersed throughout the cell. Small bipolar mini-spindles form intermittently within the array, which ultimately collapses into a monopole, and the microtubules disperse to the edges of the cell. The movie spans 26 minutes in total.
