The seedling had been exposed to 30°C for approximately 7 hours by time zero (min:sec, in upper left). This spindle was more or less bipolar to start with, although the poles were less focused than normal. The spindle appeared to be in a prometaphase-like state (0 to 3:00) before the poles rapidly collapsed towards each other (6:00 to 10:30). After a pause in the monopolar configuration, the microtubules migrated away from the poles towards the edges of the cell (12:00 to 13:30), leaving the chromosomes at the centre (visible as a dark mass).
