(A) We used enzymatic cleavage of the specific substrates benzyloxycarbonyl-Val-Asp(-OMe)-Val-Ala-Asp(-OMe)-pNA and benzyloxycarbonyl-Ile-Glu(-OMe)-Thr-Asp(-OMe)-pNA to determine the activities of caspase-2 and caspase-8.
