Fig. S1. Centrifugation causes a transient phosphorylation of eIF2α. Immunoblots of total cell extracts from G1-synchronised wild-type and gcn2 mutant cells are shown. The cells were treated as in the MMS experiments (two washes in sodium thiosulphate, once in 0.9% NaCl and once in EMM; W1) or washed three times in 0.9% NaCl and once in EMM (W2) or not washed (no W). Samples were also collected 30 minutes after the washings (W1+30 and W2+30). Leucine-starved cells were used for comparison (starvation 0 hours and 2 hours). The blots were probed with antibody against phosphorylated eIF2α. Antibody against Cdc2 was used as a loading control.
