  Fig. S1. Cells expressing the Nek3 mutants Nek3-T2 and Nek3(T475A) lack cilia. NIH3T3 cells expressing wild-type Nek3, Nek3(T475A), Nek3-T2 or kdNek3-T2 were stained for acetylated α-tubulin 48 hours after transfection. EGFP signal indicates transfected cells (green). Cilia of untransfected NIH3T3 cells are denoted by arrows. While cells expressing wild type Nek3 or kinase-dead Nek3 mutants have normal numbers of cilia as indicated by arrow heads (also see insert), no cilia are present in cells expressing Nek3-T2 or Nek3(T475A).
