Journal of Cell Science is pleased to welcome submissions for consideration for an upcoming Special Issue on Plant Cell Biology. The study of plants has resulted in major discoveries such as the nucleus and microtubules, and even the cell itself by Robert Hooke in the 1600s. These days, the plant kingdom is a ripe place to identify new sources of bioactive compounds and medicines, biofuels and biorenewable resources. Plants, however, have been underrepresented in Journal of Cell Science, despite their being exciting experimental systems that, when exploited, could provide fundamental new insights into cell biology that would appeal to our broad audience.
We therefore invite you to showcase your breakthrough research on all aspects of Plant Cell Biology in this Special Issue, which is scheduled for publication in January 2018, and will be widely marketed and distributed at relevant conferences worldwide. The articles within this issue will receive extensive exposure to a broad audience of cell biologists.
Please note that all papers accepted for this Special Issue will be posted on our Advance articles page shortly after acceptance where they will be indexed by PubMed and be citable; the published papers will then be collected together for the Special Issue in January 2018.
The issue will be guest edited by Jenny Russinova (Ghent University, Belgium), who will handle all plant cell biology papers submitted to the journal for consideration for the Special Issue.
We encourage submissions of Research Articles and Short Reports, and Tools & Techniques papers. Articles must be received by March 15th, 2017 for consideration for the Special Issue. Please refer to our author guidelines for information on preparing your manuscript for Journal of Cell Science, and submit your manuscript via our online submission system. Please highlight that your submission is to be considered for the Special Issue in your cover letter. This Special Issue is intended to have a broad scope, so we are open to articles from a wide spectrum of areas. For rapid feedback on the potential suitability of an article for this Special Issue, please submit a presubmission enquiry.
