About the Cover
Cover: A spermatocyte nucleus at the pachytene stage of meiosis, stained with an antibody recognising the lateral elements of the synapsed chromosomes (red) and an antibody against the heterochromatin protein M31 (green), which has previously been shown to be located at the centromeres of the paired chromosomes. In addition to the centromere staining, a focus of M31 staining is seen within the limited region of synapsis between the X and Y chromosomes. See article by J. M. A. Turner et al. (pp. 3367-3375).
