About the Cover
Cover: Micrograph of isolated nematocysts, explosive organelles with high internal pressure, which are used to capture prey in Hydra and all other Cnidaria. These elaborate structures, 5-15 mm in size, develop by protein assembly inside a post-Golgi vacuole of a single cell. The major components of the nematocyst wall are minicollagens and Nowa, a novel modular protein located in the outer wall, which has a key function in the complex protein assembly and biogenesis of these organelles. For further details, see Engel et al., pp. 3923-3934.
