About the Cover
Cover: Localization of the non-muscle ADF/cofilin isoform UNC-60A (red), actin (green) and DNA (blue) in Caenorhabditis elegans embryos. UNC- 60A is diffusely localized in the cytoplasm at the one-cell stage (top and left), whereas at the two-cell stage, it colocalizes with actin to the cortical spots and the cell-cell boundary (right). In later embryos, UNC-60A is enriched at the nerve ring (bottom). Depletion of UNC-60A by using RNA interference caused embryonic lethality. However, knocking out muscle isoform UNC-60Bspecifically disrupted myofibril structure without defects in early embryogenesis. These results revealed specific functions of two ADF/cofilin isoforms in distinct developmental aspects. For more information, see the paper by Ono et al. (p. 2073) in this issue.
