About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover: Cross-section of a potato root wholemount immunolabelled with an antibody to the plasma membrane ATPase (red) and {alpha}-tubulin (green). The section was taken approximately 100 {mu}M from the root tip, where vacuolar development is still in progress. It shows that ATPase labelling is confined to the plasma membrane of the epidermal cells in this region, whereas the {alpha}-tubulin antibody labels the cytoplasm of all cells. In sections taken further from the root tip, the ATPase antibody also labels the outer cortical cells. For more information, see the paper by Gordon-Weeks et al. (p. 3135) in this issue.
