About the Cover
Cover: Pseudo-colored scanning electron micrographs of the phagocytosis of IgG-opsonized erythrocytes (IgG-Es) in macrophages. In a control macrophage, the cylindrical phagocytic cup appears to have constricted the IgG-Es (top). Upon inhibition of myosin-light-chain kinase, the phagocytic cup is not apposed to the surface of IgG-Es (bottom). The phagocytic cup constriction is suggested to be a PI 3-kinase-independent, myosin-II-mediated contractile activity. See article by N. Araki et al. (p. 247-257
