About the Cover
Cover: Chromosome dynamics in mitotic HeLa cells. Stills from movies following chromosome movements in mitotic HeLa cells stably expressing Histone-2B-GFP are shown. One chromosome from each cell was artificially coloured in red to allow the oscillations to be easily monitored. Stills are 36 seconds apart. Top montage of six images - untreated prometaphase HeLa cells. The coloured chromosome moves rapidly towards the metaphase plate. Bottom montage of six images - prometaphase HeLa cells treated with a specific inhibitor of glycogen synathase kinase-3 (GSK-3). The coloured chromosome fails to align on the metaphase plate, remaining relatively static over the time course. These results suggest that GSK-3 is involved in regulating chromosome dynamics during mitosis. For more information see the article by Wakefield et al. (pp. 637-646).
