Cover: Role of SCAR in lamellipodia formation. In Drosophila S2R+ cells (left, high magnification), SCAR (magenta) localizes to the leading edge of the actin-rich lamellipodium (cyan). RNAi-mediated depletion of SCAR in the same cells interferes with lamellipodia formation resulting in a highly irregular cell outline (right, low magnification). In the article by Biyasheva et al. (pp. 837-848), SCAR was also shown to interfere with filopodia formation.
