Cover: Making a muscle sarcomere needs the M-band region of titin. The picture shows embryonic stem cells differentiated into cardiomyocytes immunostained for Z-disks (
-actinin) in green and M-bands (M-band titin) in red, with nuclei in blue. Deleting the M-band of titin prevents this ordered structure from developing. See article by Musa et al. (pp. 4322-4331).
