About the Cover
Cover: Purified ESCRT-III proteins were added to giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs), whose endosome-like lipid membranes were labelled with a red fluorescent dye. After adding proteins to the outside of GUVs, the inward-budding reaction was visualised by high-resolution confocal fluorescence microscopy and 3D reconstruction. The image depicts a view inside a GUV during intralumenal vesicle formation. Image: Christian Wunder, NICHD, NIH. See Minifocus articles on the ESCRT machinery (pp. 2163-2166, 2167-2177 and 2179-2183).
