  • E14.5 Dlk+ cells were plated at a density of 50 cells/cm2 and 200 cells/cm2, on type IV collagen- and laminin-coated dishes, respectively. In each case, 200 colonies were separated into nine groups based on colony size and the expression of albumin and cytokeratin 19 (CK19). The numbers represent colony counts. After 5 days incubation with EGF and HGF, cells were fixed in 4% paraformaldehyde and used for double immunostaining.

  • Colonies containing less than 50 cells, between 50 and 100 cells and over 100 cells are defined as small, medium and large, respectively
