Chondrogenesis

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
BMPR1A is necessary for chondrogenesis and osteogenesis, whereas BMPR1B prevents hypertrophic differentiation
Tanja Mang, Kerstin Kleinschmidt-Doerr, Frank Ploeger, Andreas Schoenemann, Sven Lindemann, Anne Gigout
    Journal of Cell Science 2020 133: jcs246934 doi: 10.1242/jcs.246934 Published 21 August 2020

Summary: GDF5 mutants were used to investigate the role of BMPR1A and BMPR1B in chondrogenesis and osteogenesis. We found that BMPR1A is necessary for chondrogenesis and osteogenesis, and BMPR1B prevents hypertrophy.

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
HES factors regulate specific aspects of chondrogenesis and chondrocyte hypertrophy during cartilage development
Timothy P. Rutkowski, Anat Kohn, Deepika Sharma, Yinshi Ren, Anthony J. Mirando, Matthew J. Hilton
    Journal of Cell Science 2016 129: 2145-2155; doi: 10.1242/jcs.181271

Highlighted Article: HES1 and HES5 are new regulators of chondrogenesis and chondrocyte hypertrophy during cartilage development, with HES5 playing a previously unidentified role in modulating Sox9 transcription.

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
Control of Wnt5b secretion by Wntless modulates chondrogenic cell proliferation through fine-tuning fgf3 expression
    Bo-Tsung Wu, Shih-Hsien Wen, Sheng-Ping L. Hwang, Chang-Jen Huang, Yung-Shu Kuan
    Journal of Cell Science 2015 128: 2328-2339; doi: 10.1242/jcs.167403

Summary: Wntless-mediated Wnt5b secretion modulates the proliferation of chondrogenic cells through fine-tuning regional Fgf3 expression during the development of craniofacial cartilages.

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
